What Is the Outreach Program?
The Outreach Program of Alcoholics Anonymous helps extend the hand of AA to individuals and institutions who may not yet know we’re here to help. Our mission is to carry the message of recovery to alcoholics who may not yet be familiar with AA or how to attend regular AA meetings—whether they are in hospitals, treatment centers, halfway houses, nursing homes, correctional facilities, or isolated communities.
Outreach bridges the gap between meetings and those in need, offering hope, connection, and the shared experience of sobriety.
What We Do:
Coordinate AA Presentations
in treatment centers, shelters, and transitional housing programs.
Deliver Literature and Meeting Schedules
to facilities and individuals.
Facilitate Temporary Contacts
to help newcomers transition from treatment into regular AA meetings.
Build Relationships
with professionals and agencies serving alcoholics.
Encourage Group Participation
in outreach activities to strengthen our collective ability to serve.
Why It Matters:
Outreach could be the first introduction someone has to AA. For the alcoholic still suffering—who may feel lost, isolated, or unaware of our program—Outreach is a vital lifeline. We go where we are needed, bringing the message of recovery with compassion, anonymity, and purpose.
How You Can Help:
Outreach is a service opportunity open to any AA member with a desire to help others. Here’s how you can get involved:
- Volunteer to speak at a treatment center or facility.
- Join the Outreach Committee and help plan upcoming efforts.
- Donate literature or contribute time to pack and deliver materials.
- Serve as a temporary contact for newcomers leaving treatment or incarceration.
