Doubling Outreach Efforts in our Intergroup Area

You may have seen our “new” Outreach Coordinator, Bruce H., at meetings and sober clubs recently, updating group information, and generally getting to know the fellowship in the entire region.

His first assignment upon starting in September of 2025 was to update the meeting contacts for the 950 groups in our schedule book (and on our website). To date, only 47 group contacts are left to update. We can now confidently say that our meeting schedule has never been more accurate.

Speaking of meeting schedules, you may have noticed the new layout of the print meeting schedules. This slightly longer schedule holds more meetings per page. It is much thinner than the previous design. The cost savings meant that we could print at lower volume, speeding up the time between updates. Of course the website is still the most accurate, up-to-date way to find a meeting.

Bruce has also been busy attending regular Area 54 meetings, Public Information meetings, as well as the Mini-Conference Weekend which was held in March. On March 31st, he was invited to speak at CWRU at an addiction class, answering questions and providing information on the program of AA as well as encouraging them to attend *open* meetings to learn more. This class of future recovery professionals now knows that through our fellowship, there is a way to live happy, joyous and free from mind and mood altering substances.

Over the last six months, Bruce has also established contact with more than 10 detox and rehab facilities. Among them are St. Vincent’s Sister Ignatia Detox, Y-Haven, Rosary Hall, Matt Talbot, Asurgent, New Directions, and several more.

In addition to the rehabs/detoxes, Bruce has also established and maintained a close relationship with our sober clubs. Club 24, Forest City, Saharid, One Day at a Time, Just for Today, Bainbridge Recovery Center (BRC), and Southgate Fellowship Hall all received assistance with literature. In kind, the sober clubs now have a point of contact to ensure that their ever changing meeting schedules are current and that contact is maintained.

Thanks to your generous support, we are able to carry the message to many more of the still sick and suffering in and out of the rooms.
