AA Help Line: Connecting People with Recovery
July 8, 2026
The AA Cleveland District Office exists for one purpose: to help carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous to the still-suffering alcoholic.
Every day, our office supports local AA groups, connects newcomers with meetings, provides recovery literature, and serves as a central resource for the Fellowship throughout Northeast Ohio. Much of this work happens behind the scenes, but it makes recovery more accessible to thousands of people every year.
Answering the Call for Help
Each year, the Cleveland District Office answers more than 15,000 phone calls from people seeking help with alcoholism.
These calls include:
- Information about Alcoholics Anonymous
- AA meeting times and locations
- Questions from newcomers and their families
- Requests for 12-Step calls
- Information for healthcare professionals and treatment providers
For many callers, this is their first introduction to AA. A caring voice and accurate information can help someone take the first step toward recovery.
Printing AA Meeting Schedules
Every quarter, the office prints approximately 8,000 meeting schedule books containing information for about 1,000 active AA meetings throughout Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake counties.
These schedules help ensure that newcomers and members alike can quickly find local meetings.
Providing AA Literature
Recovery begins with one alcoholic helping another, and literature is an important part of that process.
Each year, the Cleveland District Office distributes more than 125,000 pieces of AA literature to individuals, groups, hospitals, treatment centers, correctional facilities, and professionals throughout Northeast Ohio, US, and abroad.
Publishing Local AA Literature
In addition to Conference-approved literature, the office publishes approximately 78,000 locally produced pieces of literature each year.
These include resources such as:
- Who Me?
- The Four Absolutes
- Meeting in a Pocket
- Other locally developed recovery materials that support the AA Fellowship.
Maintaining Our Website
The Cleveland District Office website serves as a 24-hour resource for anyone seeking Alcoholics Anonymous.
Each year, more than 730,000 visitors access the site, generating over 1.5 million page views to find:
- Local AA meetings
- Recovery resources
- Events
- Literature
- Information about Alcoholics Anonymous
For many people, the website is their first connection to recovery.
Maintaining Literature Inventory
The office maintains an inventory of approximately 400 literature and recovery items, making them readily available for local groups, members, and newcomers.
By keeping literature in stock, we help ensure that meetings, sponsors, hospitals, treatment centers, and individuals have timely access to the materials they need.
Your Contributions Make This Possible
The Cleveland District Office is supported entirely through the voluntary contributions of local AA groups and members.
Every contribution helps ensure that someone can find a meeting, receive recovery literature, access reliable information, or speak with someone when they reach out for help.
Together, we help carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous throughout Northeast Ohio—one phone call, one meeting, one book, and one alcoholic at a time.
