Do I need the Meeting ID to join if I don’t have Zoom on my PC?

If you click a Zoom link without the app, you can join directly through your web browser on a desktop. After clicking the link, ignore the download prompt, click “Cancel,” and select the “Join from your Browser” link at the bottom of the page to enter your name and join.

Key Details for Joining via Browser:

  • Desktop/Laptop: This works best on Chrome, Edge, or Safari. The option is usually hidden in small print: “If you cannot download or run the application, join from your browser”.
  • Mobile (Phone/Tablet): It is generally required to have the app on mobile, but on some browsers, you can request the “Desktop Site” to try to force the “Join from Browser” option.
  • Process: After selecting “Join from Browser,” you will be asked to allow microphone and camera access, enter your name, and click join.
  • Limitations: The browser version may have limited features compared to the full desktop application.
  • Alternatives: You can also navigate directly to join.zoom.us in your browser and enter the Meeting ID and Passcode provided in the invitation.
